The only certified Retul fitter in the UK

Last month, John went back to Denver to spend another 3 days working with Todd Carver at Retul to become the only Certified Retul Fitter in the UK.
As part of the qualification, precourse lessons were undertaken and submitted. These were based on anatomy and physiology as well as bike fit theory. Todd and John have a very similar philosophy when it comes to fitting someone on their bike. The detailed physical evaluation of the rider combined with the race/training goals of the rider are a key component of individualising someone on their bike.
A long course triathlete will be fitted differently to a time triallist to a road cyclist, even if they have the same physical characteristics. Conversely, two triathletes with differing physical characteristics could be fitted differently even if they have the same goals.
The physical evaluation is an evolving process that incorporates appropriate movement patterns and assessment. Biomechanical assessment of these tests means greater added value when it comes to the actual measurement process on the bike. More often than not, areas of tightness, hip stability issues and significant muscle weakness that is picked up in the physical evaluation will manifest themselves in the measurement process. At Velomotion, these areas of concern can be diagnosed and appropriate advise given to help correct any problem areas.
